In my final year of studying a Bachelor of Professional Communications (Journalism), I took advantage of the opportunity to play many roles in the newsroom. Below are two samples of broadcast projects:

My role as a reporter: Political Satire

  • Finding a newsworthy topic
  • Identifying the angle
  • Rigorous research
  • Meeting the deadline
  • Reporting live on air
RMIT School of Media and Communication presents Newsline, an hour-long show of News and Current Affairs brought to you live from RMIT Media Precinct.
Melbourne’s controversial e-scooter trial has been given extended life, expanded for six months and now includes the use of private devices.
The news comes as injuries presented at Melbourne hospitals soar into the hundreds. Innocent victims are sharing their stories of being hit on city streets.
This week, the Swanston Explainer examines the trial’s progression, its flaws and what is being done to increase safety.

My role as a producer

  • Writing script (informed questions + well researched answers)
  • Becoming the eyes for the listener
  • Researching statistics
  • Creating + embedding original vox pops/case studies for credibility
